Got a Great Mechanic?

Post here!

Nigel Tapsall and Jim Clarke run Ardent Automotive here in Burlington. They're on Drury (off Fairview-681-9338) and they are everything I want in a mechanic. Smart, fair and absolutely trustworthy.

If you feel the same way about your mechanic, let others know. I'm going to delete it if you flame anyone (write negative stuff) because this isn't the forum for it. But the good guys? Share, share, share...

(Today's Power Shift column is about sourcing a good mechanic)

The blogger is back up...if you were trying to post, please try now!

Ranalli Auto Service, 1334 Main St. E at Wexford in Hamilton (905.549.9356). Family owned and operated.

3 generations of my family have gone to Ranalli's. I don't even live in Hamilton anymore and I still take my car there! Great mechanics are hard to find!

Lorraine,Terrific column.I have been in the Auto Service business for 33 years.Lots of changes! In fact we are no longer mechanics we are technicians.A couple of other points I could add.Your Service Provider should have computer generated invoices for past and future service requirements. Our clients can go to our website and access their own vehicle info & service history. The other point is remember"you get what you pay for" Good service providers charge correctly to reinvest in the training & equipment required to service & repair your vehicle right the first time! Please consider dropping by for a tour of our facility or visit www.ecclesautoservice.com Watch for our ladies night in near future! Thanks. Bruce Eccles PS there are more good shops than bad, simply stay away from mass merchandisers. They are driven 100% by sales not relationship building!

Wentworth Alignment (Rick) and DeNew Tech Automotive (Peter) on Macallum (off Wentworth near Burlington). Honest, smart, great guys. We've been using them forever. These side by side businesses are worth the trek into the north end.Highly recommend them.

Hi - I too use Ardent Automotive and think they're really great.
Prior to going there, when I had to wait around at the place getting my car fixed I never felt comfortable, but Jim and Nigel make their place really comfortable.

K&K Auto Service on Jones Rd in Stoney Creek. Run by a father and 3 sons, I have always found them to be honest, dependable and hard-working. As a senior I am especially appreciative of their fair pricing and terrific service.

Bullas Automotive is my Auto Shop of choice. They're on Main St. West, Hamilton. They've got all the great features Lorraine said to look out for. Respecting me as a woman with a brain is the #1 reason I continue to do business with them. You can look them up in the white pages, or visit them online at http://www.bullasauto.com/

We have a Larry and Steve at OZLO Repair Shop 1049 Hyw 56. We live in Dundas and don't mind the extra distance because of the trust we have in them. We have never been disappointed and recommend them highly.

Bob's Automotive at 350 Beach Rd., Hamilton (905) 545-2627 is one of the most unfront and honest mechanics around in Hamilton-Wentworth. My cars have been serviced at Bob's since they opened in 1995 and the work has always been done efficiently and on time. Give them a try - you will not be disappointed.

We recommend Gel Verwey at Armour Tire & Auto Service in Burlington. We have always received wonderful, courteous service, and many of our neighbours also go here.

Thanks to Final Touch Car Cleaning on Industrial Drive, we have the original paint on our car after 18 years.

June and Jack.
