Client 9

Just once, I wish they would let me write the script. The story is an old one - shamed politician caught with his pants down - but the most damnable part for me is the little woman at his side. Why do they always look like they did something wrong?

Here's a couple of suggestions for Eliot Spitzer, and Silda, his wife:
"I stand before you, chastised and ashamed. I have broken the trust of my marriage and family, and my constituents...and I ask your...."
~SLAP~
"You will have my forgiveness over my dead body, you selfish, egocentric bastard. Do you really believe you will get away with publicly shaming us, and I will stand here beside you and put up with it? It's not my fault none of the cheerleaders would sleep with you in high school. And it's only your rise to the top of the powerful dorkpile that is getting you any now...I stuck by you when I knew what an ass you were...and this is how you repay me? Do you seriously believe they're not watching your every move, that in this day and age they can't watch you from miles away and not know exactly what, and who, you're doing? Come on kids, we're out of here..."

or this:

"You may be wondering why I've called this news conference. Unfortunately, I have..."
"Wait, honey? Hold on. The kids are here, and want to hear too. Oh, and kids? Bring your grandparents out too. And I believe we have a live feed to the jail, where all the people you called 'vermin' are incarcerated after you built your reputation on cleaning out the scum. Now then, what was it you wanted to say?"

Personally, I couldn't care less who is doing whom. But just once, I'd like to see the wife (and it's always the wife - no guy would stand there and be so emasculated) refuse to play the role. You want to forgive him? Go for it. But don't stand in front of us and grit your teeth. Haul off and smack the bastard, at least for embarrassing your children, if not for killing your marriage. Or better yet, refuse to stand beside him.

The problem with the stand up wife in a political marriage in these situations is that it makes me question her motives even more than I question his.

I agree...gotta love politics where you are under scrutiny more than most, not private life, not that it make any difference as to what has taken place, wrong is wrong. I beg your forgivness and may I run again? Fools?? We are for continually electing scum into positions of trust. The old story goes, "if they are doing them and then they are doing me"...

I think it's a laugh that this Spitzer jack-ass got caught with his pants down. I heard that he'd paid not only his current "servicing" bill but had also paid in advance for his next romp. I bet, as a card carrying member of this particular escort service, that he probably had one of those affinity cards where you buy ten oil, lube & filters and get one free!

But I agree with you, the one that puzzles me most is his dippy "stand by your man" wife.

apparently 'ol Eliot wasn't so great at paying for "services rendered". The Escort company requested that he pay up front for his next appointment. My question -will he get his money refunded? Silda wants to know too.

If anyone read lat March's Vogue magazine on the various "power" people, Silda Wall is in it. I got the clear idea she wasn't thrilled to toss her legal career to support her bonehead hubby's run to Governor. He tossed his career in the toilet easily enough. I suspect reading Silda's background that divorce and a serious dressing down is going to follow Eliot when the cameras are off. He is going to experience the press version of "ferretlegging" the next couple of weeks. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Too bad Silda and her kids have to deal with it as well.

It would appear that most of you are overlooking Lorraine's point. It's not the man; it's the woman! We all know that men cannot keep their 'pecker in their pocket'. There's no news there. What is grindingly frustrating to me is that decent wom en stand there beside this pecker-ruled ninny and take the heat with them. Get some dignity, woman! If you feel you must support him, do it from the privacy of your home. Let him face the media without you. He deserves that much, at least!

Actually, I was describing Silda's background and her likely actions in the near future. I think she was only there to keep him from running away from the mic. Seriously, she was betrayed but silda knows better than to cut Eliot open in public. The press will do that job for her. Remember she is a lawyer, trust me Eliot will wish he'd died. Read the March 2007 Vogue story.LOL

What buzzwhack said may be true; however, it's all about the "optics" now, isn't it? She looks like the woman who "stands by her man". In that way she diminishes all women.

And Mrs. or ex Spitzer(?) is going to run in the politcal arena herself. Keep your eye on her. It is the same deal with Hillary. She could have run from Bill when he didn't consider oral sex to be sex (DUH and he was leading the world's super power and admitted that a hummer is not sex, not a cover Bill) hit the scene but she had the idea of being president one day. It is playing out in front of our eyes daily in her bid for such. Bill smiles in the back ground. They or most are just scum. It all boils down to how well they can manipulate the public. What he did is not right but Mrs.Spitzer(ex?) will run with the sympathy to get on the next ballot somewhere. It is all in the cards. Scruples??? Not in this particular case.

Whoa, man! It's way too early in the morning to be so cynical! Read the Globe and Mail's editorial on the subject today. It is beautifully written.

Spitzer has since resigned which is the only appropriate thing to do. He was thinking with the right head this time...

I truly believe that these women are their own worst enemies and as for a political career, I have visceral problems with Hilary because she was so wimpy during Bill's big adventure. If I were an American (so glad I'm not), I wouldn't vote for Hilary. too wimpy in the face of big stuff.

Silda apparently tried to talk Sptiz into keeping his job. Huh. A friend told me this yesterday and I didn't believe it until I read it (sorry Gibby).

This kind of spins the dynamic for me - I'd convinced myself she was just hanging in for the short term - they have 3 teen daughters ('Daddy, what do you think the best careers for women are?'), but maybe not.

Sure, it's her personal choice. But unless they had some tacit agreement and she knew about these little sidebar trips of his (80K worth, apparently), I believe the look on her shell-shocked face more than the reported words from her mouth.

The little poptart has surfaced, of course, as a 22-year-old 'aspiring musician' (talent reports indicate that aspiring could be a long term thing).

I've heard rumbles that Mrs. Spitzer could now go into politics herself.

Do you honestly believe she would? This ain't Bill and Hillary, not by a long shot. Silda looked shocked; Hillary always just looked pissed that he'd been caught, again.

Well, I'd like my front pages back now. More things are dying than political careers.

Interesting to hear Silda wanted to keep going. She is made of tougher stuff than we thought.I still venture their marriage is dead and it'll be a matter of time before it washes away. This hand holding bull is for show.As for political career, who knows? She grow to like wallowing in pits of muddy depravity.

$80,000 worth of nookie! Apparently he didn't even buy the "top of the line" whore who charged out at $5,500/hr. I think the most gross part is he wanted to go nekkid (if you get my drift) all the time. what an oink! Love that he was caught.

I read a point somewhere that was quite smart, I thought. Why is it that if two consenting adults have sex, and one is paid for it, it's illegal, but if two (or more) consenting adults have sex, and it is filmed and distributed, and everyone gets paid for it, it's not?

Whadda stupid world.
