Maddow Band Wagon

While I don't pay enough to get her show in my TV, I make sure to catch Rachel Maddow the next morning.

She's the newest sensation on the sensational stage, and I love her. Who is she? From her website:

"Rachel has a doctorate in political science (she was a Rhodes Scholar) and a background in HIV/AIDS activism and prison reform. She shakes a mean cocktail, drives a bright red pickup, hates Coldplay, loves arguing with conservatives, spends a lot of money on AMTRAK tickets, and dresses like a first-grader."

She's smart; she's funny; she's a classy host with a knack of staying on topic, regardless of the garbage flying around her head. While you can youtube most of her stuff, here's one that particularly stood out from a few days ago. David Frum was one of Bush's speech writers (axis of evil, anyone? anyone?), and he carried his smug, nasty rhetoric onto her show. Forget what you've heard about Canadians being polite - the bullies sure don't like it when they get called out.

Oh, to Frum? Maybe if news and politics was as smart and engaging as Maddow makes it, more people would tune in and actually learn something.

David Frum (Barbara Frum from CBC son perhaps?) one of Bush's speech writers and old Georgie still couldn't grasp the English language? Can't read either than if this is the case. Maddow can be quite funny. You are absolutely right Lorraine...

One look at her picture and I knew she was a lesbian. I mean within seconds. From this point on you don't even need to hear her speak because you know what she's going to say. ( the usual maoist, socialist, gov't help the poor with one foot on their back ideology) Pass.

Steaming cup of bigotry, anyone?

Wow. You must spend a disproportionate amount of your time running around newsrooms, ascertaining everyone's sexual orientation before deciding if they're smart enough to teach you anything.

And, of course, you're 'anonymous'.
You don't deserve a voice.

David Frum's mother was Barbara Frum. Wouldn't she be proud!!? President Bush's speechwriter. Who'd want to take credit for sock monkey's words. Maybe there's a job back in Canada as Bush Wanna-be Harper just "liberated" one of his scape goats, I mean speech writers, didn't he?

So lesbians are moaists and socialists who always say the same things? And heterosexuals are morally upright idealists like Anonymous here and...oh, let's see - Larry Craig, Mark Foley, et al?

Wait a minute - what about bisexuals? They must be all over the map. Poor bastards...maybe Anonymous will tell us how they ALL think too.

Lorraine. You are shit disturber, see that? How the hell did we get onto this topic of Maddow and her sexuality? Who cares? She is, what she is...It would appear someone got out of the wrong side of the bed or just pissed with the world, perhaps both?

Is it absolutely certain David Frum is Barbara Frum's spawn? Finding it hard to believe...

Unfortunately, and corroborated by several sources, Frum is the son of the late Barbara Frum, a well-known veteran journalist. His father, Murray Frum, was a dentist who later became a multi-millionaire as a real estate developer. David Frum's sister, Linda Frum is a journalist. David Frum is married to writer Danielle Crittenden, the stepdaughter of former Toronto Sun editor Peter Worthington.

David Frum is married to Danielle Crittenden. That starts to make sense. Well as Carole Pope said,
"birds of a feather stick together,"

Yes. High School Confidential. Some very contraversal lyrics, a song that almost didn't make air and kicked some ass. Way ahead of their time...

Being a musican, the comment was judged and made from my experience. I can pick out the good from the bad. Very tight and exploratory band. Lyrics were absolutely great, music fitting, although heavy at times. One of those bands that you either got or didn't. Love them or hate them...

For god's sakes, 'R'...the wiki comment isn't about your stupid music comment (I don't think Lorraine has ever even written about music - why doesn't everyone here who gets into it take it to another forum?).

It's about the Frum bio, which the commenter noted as 'sourced'.

'K kids, I don't care what you talk about - though anon above is right, I don't get into music - several of the commenters here have their own blogs, and I know they're more suited to music discussions - DJ, Omemeeozzie - with links. Go play there, if you like.

Flip side, don't bother getting lathered if someone gets chippy, though I recommend we save it for the truly heinous (our bigot above), rather than the occasionally annoying.

Thanks, Mom.

For what it's worth, too many people, in my opinion, "hide" behind the ability to post anonymously. Generally with one or two notable exceptions there are some smart, bright and very capable indivudals that contribute their $0.02 worth to this (and other blogs). Why not identify yourselves -- please? I dare say that those with hateful opionions and small minds will continue to remain anonymous. That, too is their right. However, Lorraine (and WGJ) have the ability to delete any comments or block any participation through moderation if they see fit.

And if, on occasion a comment seems to make a wrong turn at Alburqueque, so what? Sometimes a diversion is just what is needed so calmer heads may prevail. Sometimes we all need to get over ourselves -- me included!

I'm trying to figure out how this post got to have 25 comments attached ... was it the mention of David Frum, lesbianism, Rough Trade or sheep that did it?

His Imperial smugness, Frum, was on Larry King last night; hard to believe that he is the son of Barbara Frum. Must have been dropped on his head as an infant -- on several ocasions.
