Am I Laughing By Myself Here?

So, the Conservative Budget has a rebate for home reno work done this year.

First, I need a new deck. And, a small second bathroom in the basement, which also needs finishing, would be spectacular. There are so many things that need doing in this house, I seriously could just spin around and point anywhere, and get to work.

But, come on Harper - home renovations? As if I'm going to lay out coin this year for something that so cleaves to the 'want' side of the list rather than the 'need'.

But, the biggest giggle of all - tell me how many people that do home reno work give receipts? I bet it's the single biggest underground economy outside of drugs and prostitution, which were mysteriously left out in the cold of the Deficit Warmth.

And none of that is going on in my house, either.

Lorraine: How about the personal tax relief? If you make $30,000.00, it works out to a big $33 big ones. Now tell me, is that an incentive to run out and buy a big ticket item? All this budget showed was just how #$#$#$ we are, but they hung onto power. They would have been better off to come over to my place and rubbed my nose it. It is a joke, an expensive one. The whole political structure in this country needs a major overhaul. It is so outdated. I like the new shoes also for Flaherty. Now tell me, how the hell did he wear the last pair out? It has only been a few months and they were off the job for most of it. That is a tradition they can do without. There are ordinary people out there right now, that would love to have that money to spend on food in this economic crisis. It is not a trivial financial matter in this ecomomic meltdown for a lot of people...

They are totally out of touch with reality.

Actually, it's a brilliant strategy. By surfacing some of the underground economy, the program will bring in additional tax revenues through GST, reducing the net cost of the program.

You are aware of course that 6 new 'snitch' lines were added? They don't call em that though.

Underground economy too surface? Never happen. Taxes, money saved, is money earned my friend. Have you ever seen a trustworthy politican? If they were more transparent, rather than bending us over the table ever chance they get, and look the other way for the big boys in business, and personal agendas, then perhaps the stigmas that surround govenment would vanish and trust could be reinvented. Until then, don't hold your breath...If you think for one minute that the ones that represent you, the ones you voted for, to give you that one last thought of democracy, are there for you, then wake up. They are in it for what they can get out of it and as far as we go, the ordinary folks, thanks for coming out...SUCKERS!!!

Instead of buying a new pair of shoes for every budget, they should just get a pair of rubber flip-flops.
