Wust-i-chest-i-shire Sauce

We love this stuff. That stuff. In the title. And that is the way we pronounce it, because everyone knows that proper English words always have at least 6 extra syllables hidden deep within their letters. It's so they can sort the natives from the tourists.

Anyway. Cute article which reveals the recipe for this stuff. The authentic, real, disgusting recipe. The good news? It makes about 150 litres. So, go ahead. Make it, and then drop me off a little bottle.

The bad news? You might choke when you read what's in it.

It mentions fish in the ingredients of every Lea & Perrins bottle. I use it for Garden Cocktail drinks.

I know. I use it in everything. My silly son even shakes it into every sandwich.

But then again, he grew up with me cooking for him...

"We" go through two large bottles a month; "we" buy in bulk from Costco. OK, truth is, my wife is a Worcestershire-aholic; practically takes shots of the stuff -- it's the vinegar, apparently. I enjoy a few liberal dashes in ice cold tomato juice or homemade (orange) lentil soup.

It's got anchovies in it, I'd always heard. Those salty little fishies that taste revolting but do wonders to impart flavour. Oh, and I'm surprised he only puts it in sandwiches.
