Covering Your Privates

Excellent essay on internet and social media security.

The fact I made this lovely lady spend some time with me in North Bay notwithstanding, she's a smartypants who really knows her stuff.

Read here. Great information you may not have realized, excellent reminder for things you may have forgotten.

This should be required reading for everyone. I will definitely be making my girls... er... child units read this. I had never really thought about a lot of what she's saying. Sorta makes Twitter look even dumber than it already did.

Crystal Bowersox? Really?

REALLY?

Excellent article - thanks for sharing. After watching the video, I realize how lame my current passwords really are!

BTW - nice meeting you at TVCogeco last Friday.

I read this last night and again today. So much so, I 'shared' this on Facebook a short time ago.

I don't "do" Facebook or Twitter [well my mum who just arrived from the UK on Wednesday twitters, but we are talking more like the birds than the blogging thing, I have no idea if she has actually stopped talking since she arrived. In fact Im pretty sure they had to drop the oxygen masks on the plane so everyone else could get some air she talks so much, but I digress]

I get calls at work all the time from parents whose kids have given away to much info on the net. Lets not even go into those teenagers that post on Facebook about how they are having a "small" gathering at their house while the folks are away, and then 500 kids turn up and trash the house. That happened in Oshawa a couple of years ago.
Im pretty sure alot of our kids are more savvy with the internet than we are though. We got a great email at work the other week about how to create a password that would be extremely hard to crack. Just by using a favourite phrase and taking the first letters of each word and then adding a letter or two. Well it was something along those lines anyway.
I hate the age we live in sometimes. There always seems to be some scrote out there that just wants to destroy all the good stuff that makes life easier.
