Go Kart, Young Man

This is me.

This is Ari.

I am not competitive. Really. Well, maybe at Jeopardy, but not at sports (::cough::) and not at driving. Actually, I don't think I know if I'm competitive at sports - I don't think I've ever played on a team of anything. That should make anyone picked last feel better; I don't get picked at all.

Anyway, Ari and I went go karting the other day. It was fun. It was a media thing, and since I knew I would be bringing my competitiveness in a thimble, I asked if Ari could come too. He loved it. Racing around an outdoor track (Toronto Kart Club) with a lawn mower engine strapped to a contraption 3 inches off the ground, he had a blast. I mostly just tried to get out of the way.

I didn't get a trophy. But I had fun. Thanks to Jim Wang of the Toronto Kart Club for the pics.

That is a great experience for the both of you. I went go karting with a bunch of friends at a facility (I believe) in Whitby a few years back. Being rather large of girth and not getting the hang of left foot braking I was basically a rolling pylon for others to go whipping past. I've deliberately forgotten how many laps down I was by the time we were done.

What Chris said. Oh. Wait. There is the age thing: I'd have to adopt you.

So ... when are we getting a review of the new/old Morgan three-wheeler?

Reverse ageism?

Now there's a twist.

PJ, it was likely Family Kartway on Hwy. 12 the place where my wife, playing a 'round' on the mini-golf course, inadvertently teed-off and rocketed a golf ball through the fence into the side of a 5-ton gravel truck! Not sure who was most surprised: Sheryl, me or the truck driver.

Yes! That was it! Our model car club was celebrating it's 25th anniversary and we went there and then the Mandarin to mark the occasion. I stopped counting how many times one member went by me. By the time I finally learned to keep my left foot off the brake as I was trying to accelerate the session was over.
And yes I did say model car club - grown men playing with toys

A few years ago, as a staff 'team building' exercise, we spent an afternoon at Playdium, Mississauga.

Regardless of age, and the fact that we all have a minimum of 2 years college, when you put 30 guys on a go cart track, we all turn into 12 year olds again.

My Manager never held it against me when I spun him out.
