Can You Tell I Finally Got My Speakers Hooked Up?

I declare this to be Video Wednesday. Until I have to go the mall later, and it will become Hell Wednesday.

Anyway. If you're a journo, or a journalism student, or want to learn all about the state of journalism today, go here.

Sadly funny, sadly true, but yeah, this is the conversation....

Now THAT is funny! There are a number of these videos around that people have done. If you look up the same animated characters but under "pilot negotiations" you will see what my career choice is like when it comes time to negotiate with your employer. There are a few inside jokes in it but it's a bit of a chuckle.

"prospi" is my word today. Makes me feel rich, for some reason.

True, true... so true.

I cannot begin to tell you how many stories have been killed over the years. Fortunately as a freelance writer under contract (writing for pay) even if a story is killed, I get paid.

Many do not.

Why would anyone want to get into the biz these days? Content mills are doing their damnedest to ruin it for everyone. Just because you have a camera does not make you a photographer; same thng applies to a keyboard.

Boy, that guy has a boner for the New York Times, huh?Journalism sounds great until you actually do it. If it still seems great to you then you obviously are meant to be one.I had an idiot editor try to kill my review of a Monte Carlo SS because it mentioned flaws. I reminded him that it was slugged on last month's edition and that it'd look funny if it was absent. Especially if it appeared in a rival magazine that month.I love my job so it works for me but pie in the sky newbies are in for a rude awakening.
