Hockey Players and Mariah

Ahh... this is an awesome way to start your day. A Northern Ireland hockey team singing to Mariah's Carey earworm, All I Want For Christmas.

These lads are seriously fun. And darling. They are just darling.

They are hilarious. Love the rudimentary dance number. My fav is the dude in the elf outfit. Welcome back to the world of sound. I'll be sending you all the videos you've missed.

How is it I have a fruit fly in December?

Ha! I'm sure they'd be thrilled to know you think they're "darling." Most hockey players spend a good part of their free time thinking of what they could do so that their friends Moms think they're darling.

Roz, I have a solution to fruit flies that is on a par with the poinsettia watering solution. But it involves NOT having rotting fruit lying around the kitchen. Or bathroom.

Spent yesterday wrapping presents at the Burlington Mall for United Way. There are way too many people who have left their Christmas shopping 'til now. Everyone should be done by now.

Last I checked, fruit flies do not consult calendars... or diaries for that matter.

Pests appear regardless. Especially at this festive time of year.

and I don't have rotting fruit in my kitchen or bathroom??? Why would anyone have fruit in their bathroom? The poinsettia is soaking (absorbing would be more correct) as we speak.

I'm now building a car emergency first aid kit. My husband is going to wonder where everything went...

Must. Control. Urge. To. Comment. To. Name.

Never experienced fruit flies in a bathroom. Nor in any other room than the kitchen.

Methinks there is more to this revelation than meet the fly.

question. why would I need latex gloves in my emergency car 1st aud kit? do they think I'm going to amputate someone's leg or something? I'm thinking this might be a non-essential.

can you tell I'm not really busy?

I made up two myself Saturday, before the 402 debacle. Included meds, etc. for 24 hours. Wife thought I was nuts - until the armed forces went in yesterday to rescue motorists on the 402.

As far as the gloves are concerned, beats me; not exactly suitable apparel in sub-zero temps since they would likely break down.

Same thing with condoms - or, if lubricated, would they be OK?

The latex gloves are so you can apply a bandage if you cut yourself during the big emergency. You really have no idea what's in your own blood and you want some latex gloves to protect yourself. In case your blood's full of some wicked disease, or something.

Seems pretty obvious to me. Plus they make great balloons if you get bored. If you shine the light on them (which had better be in your kit, by the way) just the right way, they can look like radioactive chickens. Kills a lot of time. Makes you forget about your amputated leg.

Don't forget the life raft. In case of a flood.

I put in a pack of cards to alleviate boredom and I did remember a small flashlight with enough batteries for days, and candles. I'm going to pass on the life raft; the canoe on the roof rack will have to suffice.

p.s. I was prepared for Y2K as well.

Aha... cards - great idea!

Packed a lighter and waterproof matches, too.
