When Writers Should Just Shut Up...

You don't have to be a writer to appreciate this fabulous book review....and more importantly, the following comments that feature the 'author' freaking out.

This is awesome. Thanks to Brad Smith for the forward. Maybe you could send her some of your reviews so she knows what it feels like to do it right.

Just read through the entire list of reviews and Howlett's amazing repartee of calm, reasoned assessment. Howlett as an author is as she so aptly put it, "discusting." Maybe she'll wise up from this humiliating experience and learn how to construct paragraphs, sentences and spelling. After that she can learn tact and humility. Not going to hold my breath on any of it!
Those reviews are like walking through a line of rotating blades. Why would she willingly make it as bad as possible for herself?

Yesterday, I was wondering what adventure Lorraine was off on. Now I know. It must have taken all day to wade through that and follow up on the various links etc. This was a veritable storm! One thing I do know is, that I will not be reading that book. Bad grammar along with bad spelling in a book really makes me feel like I wasted my money.

On that happy note, when will your book be coming out?

This is what happens when you don't have an editor. Or at least a competent one. Learning when to shut up is also a good idea.

And no, I won't be reading it either.

I thought 'discusting' was kind of perfect, though, because they were discussing her disgusting behavior - very Palinesque.

marcelleqb, you summed it up perfectly. Unbelievably Palinesque.

I just started a book the other day that is on a topic near and dear to my heart but suffers from the same obtrusive grammatical misfires.

It's scary what can happen on the internet. My word is "haresses." I'll bet Howlett wishes everyone would just stop haressing her.

The evil tech wizards where I work have not blocked blogs, I can read them, but they HAVE blocked the comment forms, so I can't leave my 2 cents! That's just mean. So, most days I read, then forget to come back and comment when I get home. Today I remembered!! That was fun! Seriously, lots of fun! I haven't seen that many mistakes since I taught English as a second language. Or (now that I think about it) since I used to read my own writing the day after pulling an all nighter in university. What? Poli-Sci essay due tomorrow?

Oh my.

I enjoyed the reviewed author(?)frantically spinning the wheel until she finally launches into the weeds and drops the f-bomb.
