Going to the dogs.

Because you all think I only like cats, this is for the puppy people...from The Guardian.

Oh, and my friends Roland and Pam got a new puppy. May I introduce Humphrey?

Awesome. However, Mabel says "Oi, where's my effing picture?"

He's OK. Prefer Westies myself.

Best dog I had was an Irish Setter. Still miss him.

What a cutie!! Favourite pic in the competition was the Springer Spaniel. Our pup has Springer in her (she's a rescue Mutt) and she does that all the time in fields. Bugs Bunny would be proud.

What is Humphrey - other than black?

I'll have to get Roland back in here. The 'Mabel' and 'May Bell' in the first two comments is Humphrey's big sister - a darling little white Westie with a little fat tummy. I love her.

Roland! Pam! What's Humphrey?!

Hi Lorraine,

Humphrey is a Cairn Terrier (Brindle)

And because you said Mabel has a little fat tummy, she is now in a huff & wearing Doggie Spanx.

From the photograph, would NEVER have guessed a Cairn. Looks like a baby bunny after an ear-ectomy!

My word? mentenna

Really, I kid you not. Why don't I let the women weigh in on that?

My word's "drobula." Sounds vaguely mentenna-related... Um... yeah... well... never mind...

You guys have way too much fun in here!

Adorably puppy - although at this point in my life the best puppies (like kids) are the ones that belong to someone else...

Don't tell my kids I said that...

Well, I for one am thrilled to have a warrior princess join our ranks.

Welcome!

One of our cats, Xena is an aptly named warrior princess, too. Her preference is towards men... well not men, per se, but Tom's - neutered ones at that.

Word? Pinges. e.g. the election October 6 pinges on several key issues...

I have to go now... day one of preparation for a Korean Pork Bone Soup; I'm presently drawing blood from the bones!

Sigh. You're totally going to chase away the new people.

I thought that was my job? Or at least one of them. And I'm absolutely serious about the bones and the blood, too. Check out your colleague, Jennifer Bain's column September 15.

No, given that my word now is 'allate' I have decided not to make any comment whatsoever.

Must go put a Band-Aid on my tongue, though...

No chance of that - you haven't seen the things I do in my kitchen...

And thanks so much for the welcome! I always tell everyone that "she" stole my name. Funny how a monicker can go from "what the hell kind of name is that?!" (yep - someone actually said that to me once...) to "wow - that's such a kewl name." It's been a long road from the days when I was (not so) affectionately known to my classmates as "Zenith TV."

Come to think of it, it's been a long road from my days of chasing neutered Toms too...

My password: blogist. Cue the "Twilight Zone" music...

Not to worry, Lorraine. I believe another soul has found a home.

I'll try harder next time; promise.

Zena,

Welcome to Lorrainia.

Check your sanity at the door.

My Scotish Lake Monster is more nessesse than yours.

Thank you, DJW!

I've been lurking at the window for a little while now (sorry Lorraine - I'll clean the nose prints up asap...), and somehow it feels like...

home...

Hmm: "spapyrie"...any takers?

The answer to "what did midieval journalists write on?"

"derase". That is what they did when they spelled it wrong on the spapyrie.

I know that I am coming in a blog behind, but it was such a good word and I hated to waste it.

I cook but you people scare me in the kitchen. Puppy looks like a little bear. Very cute.

Actually, on second glance, he looks a little like a baby Ewok to me...

Only cuter. Way cuter...

"fockougg."

Expletive used by medieval writers when they had to derase mis-pelled words on their spapyrie...
